Gaining an accountancy qualification means you can work in a range of sectors and industries. The usual careers may include working in a professional services firm or working in the corporate sector. And there are many other less conventional careers that you can do and may not have considered before.

So for some career inspiration we have looked to our ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) members, over 198,000 fully qualified accountants around the world.

There are ACCA members working in not-for-proft organisations and specifically in an academic setting. Like Biraj Pradhun, a manager for research, development and consultancy at Kathmandu University. He has been an ACCA member since 2008. And he has in-depth expertise in financial reporting, researching, drafting and writing on technical issues.

He is also an ACCA International Assembly member contributing to discussions on a range of ways in which ACCA can provide value to members, students and partners all over the world. He has led the Nepal Member Advisory committee of ACCA as Chairman since July 2015. In addition he has experiences with issues affecting economic development, research and development, corporate governance, audit and corporate reporting, sustainability and professional regulation.

Biraj is an expert in his field. To get into a similar role to Biraj you will need some experience of working as a finance profesional and the following skills and attributes:
