"I would recommend ACCA-X to my fellow students and to anyone thinking about accounting and finance, as it is a good way to gain the knowledge to start you off, and then you can see if it suits you and if you want to take it forward."

Being productive over the university holidays

To make the most of her university holidays, Raheema Iqbal from the UK was able to take on the ACCA-X online course for 10 weeks and fit it around her social life and part-time job. She describes her ACCA-X experience as "new and different - I hadn’t done anything like it before".

Developing employability skills whilst at university

As a business and management undergraduate at Birmingham City University, Raheema's reason for doing ACCA-X was to "better my understanding of accounting and finance". More specifically, she saw it as a way to boost her employability skills. She has since gone on to do the ACCA exams to certify what she has learnt on the ACCA-X course.

Experiences of online learning

For Raheema, it was a relatively new experience for her to do a complete course all online, but she found it is easy to get started: "I really liked the way ACCA-X was structured and how the topics for each week linked together. The videos helped better my understanding of the topics if I was unsure. And the tests at the end were even better as they were similar to the real exam and it gave you an idea of what the exam would be like."

Thinking about the future

It was great to have Raheema on the course. We asked her what she's planning to do next: "My plans now are to continue with my part-time job and complete my business and management degree and see where is takes me from there.

"I would recommend ACCA-X to my fellow students and to anyone thinking about accounting and finance, as it is a good way to gain the knowledge to start you off, and then you can see if it suits you and if you want to take it forward."

For university students like Raheema, achieving one of the ACCA accounting and finance certificates alongside your degree is particularly impressive to future employers, as it shows initiative and it can demonstrate your professional skills. It also gives you the opportunity to continue your ACCA journey to becoming a chartered certified accountant.
